Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de CubaSantiago, "Hot earth", cradle of the revolution where, in the series "a train can hide an other", Castro pulled the first assault against Batista, the dictator anterior. Santiago is now considered for its carnival in July. It is also the cradle of musical styles "Bolero" and "Son" which were the supports of the contesting against the intervention of their big neighbor of the North in the 30s.

It is the second city of Cuba. So alive as Havana, smaller and less polluted. Its extremely deep bay made it naturally a port appreciated in shelters of storms but unfortunately not of earthquakes of which it was victim in 2012. The city seemed totally restored in 2014 during my stay.
A bus network connects the cities of Cuba but a little Havana-Santiago lasts costs a little 16 hours... There are also planes connections which I have not tested yet. We can also arrive there directly since Europe.
